About Me

In August 2007, I completed the Graduate Program in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development (CONS) at the University of Maryland at College Park where I spent two years taking courses in animal ecology, ecological economics, and wildlife policy. My scholarly paper was titled: "Conservation of butterflies in an era of global climate change".

At that time, I began working as a Science Program Assistant for the Ecological Society of America in Washington, DC, where my primary responsibilities include coordinating the scientific sessions for the ESA Annual Meeting every August and assisting with the production of other workshops organized by the ESA Science Office.

In the fall of 2006, I completed a capstone, problem-solving course in which I helped launch the Human-Wildlife Conflict Collaboration (HWCC). By organizing a two-day meeting for practitioners, we were able to bring together 50 attendees from international organizations, zoos, and universities to discuss how a collaboration might help them achieve their goals to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts around the globe.

In the spring of 2007, I was a Festival Coordinator for Bird Fest 2007, an annual celebration held at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington, DC, in recognition of International Migratory Bird Day.
